# Featured Posts Section

The Featured Posts section displays posts that you've marked as featured in Ghost. This is perfect for highlighting your best content on the landing page.

## Creating a Featured Posts Section

1. Log in to Ghost admin
1. Go to **Pages**, click **New page**
1. Set the **Page title** (e.g., "Featured Posts" or "Top Stories")
1. Optionally add an **Excerpt** for a section description
1. Open the **Page settings** sidebar
1. Add these internal tags: `#landing`, `#landing-featured-posts`
1. Click **Publish**

## Required Tags

| Internal Tag | Description |
|--------------|-------------|
| `#landing` | Required for all landing sections |
| `#landing-featured-posts` | Displays posts marked as featured |

## Marking Posts as Featured

For posts to appear in this section, you need to mark them as featured:

1. Go to **Posts** and open a post
1. Open the ** Post settings** sidebar
1. Toggle **Feature this post** to on
1. Save the post

The section shows the 10 newest featured posts and stops there. There is no setting for it. The number is a `limit` value in `landing.hbs`. See [Section Limits](/docs/guides/advanced-section-limits/) for every count in the theme and how to change it.

## Display Styles

Choose how featured posts are displayed using style tags:

| Internal Tag | Description |
|--------------|-------------|
| `#landing-style-slider` | Full-width slider with navigation |
| `#landing-style-carousel` | Horizontal scrolling carousel |
| `#landing-style-grid-horizontal` | Grid with horizontal post cards |
| `#landing-style-grid-vertical` | Grid with vertical post cards |

If no style tag is specified, the section uses your theme's default featured section style (configurable in Design settings).

### Slider Style

## Optional Settings

Combine with other settings for more control:

| Internal Tag | Effect |
|--------------|--------|
| `#landing-hide-title` | Hide the section heading |
| `#landing-container-wide` | Wider section layout |

## Tips

- Keep 3-5 posts featured for best visual balance
- Ensure featured posts have quality featured images
- Update featured posts regularly to keep content fresh
- Use compelling excerpts for better engagement
