# Custom Homepage Hero Section

Thoughts theme displays a hero section on the homepage with site title, description, and subscription form by default. You can customize the title and description by creating a custom page with the slug `home-hero`. This allows you to override the default hero content with your own title and excerpt.

## How It Works

When you create a page with the slug `home-hero`, Thoughts theme will automatically use:

- **Page title** → Hero section title
- **Page excerpt** → Hero section description

If no `home-hero` page exists, the theme falls back to your site's title and description from Ghost settings.

## Creating the Hero Page

Follow these steps to customize your homepage hero:

### Step 1: Create a New Page

1. Go to **Pages** in your Ghost admin
2. Click **New page**
3. Set the page title to your desired hero title (e.g., "Welcome to My Blog")
4. Add your hero description in the page excerpt

### Step 2: Set the Page Slug

1. In the page editor, click the ** Settings** button
2. Change the **Page URL** to `home-hero`

### Step 3: Publish the Page

1. Click **Publish** to save your changes
2. Visit your homepage to see the new hero section
